Football Club QR Codes: What to Link and Where to Place Them
A club QR code works best when the destination can change without the printed code changing. Point it to one maintained club homepage, then update the priorities behind it throughout the season.
Use one durable destination
Avoid printing separate codes for every campaign. A single club URL can lead to tickets this week, registration next month and a fundraiser later in the season. The physical asset stays useful while the digital destination evolves.
Place it where intent already exists
Add the code to match programmes, entrance signage, sponsor boards, registration flyers, merchandise packaging and clubhouse displays. Each placement should include a short reason to scan, not just an unexplained square.
Design for real conditions
Use high contrast, enough white space and a minimum practical size. Test from the expected distance, in poor light and on older phones. Never place the code over a busy photograph or near a fold.
Measure the outcome
Track which destinations receive attention after the scan. If supporters consistently choose fixtures or registration, that behavior should influence the hierarchy of the page and future campaigns.
